About RBAG
|
Welcome!Area residents organized the Rochester Buckhart Action Group (RBAGroup), a not-for-profit corporation in central Illinois, to address concerns relating to a planned hog Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) on Buckhart Road west of Buckhart. Buckhart is five miles east of Rochester. The industry partner for this factory farm has been identified by the developer as Cargill, Inc. The RBAGroup wants to stress that we do not oppose agriculture in general, but are concerned about this type of operation. The area surrounding the planned facility includes numerous residences, including subdivided tracts, and businesses. RBAGroup supporters are voicing concerns about potential environmental (air- and water-quality) issues as well as drastic declines in residential and agricultural property uses and values. The likely livestock transportation routes through Rochester, as well as the disposal sites (identified as near Rochester and Roby), may impact wider areas of Sangamon and Christian counties. What's the impact? This map illustrates some of the many residences that are just east of the facility. Also check out the possible Manure Disposal Sites Map by clicking here.
